Al Wakrah coach Marquez Lopez spoke to the media ahead of their 2021-2022 season QNB Stars League Week 4 match against Al Ahli.

“When we win, everything is good and all people are happy. And this is normal in football, but in football analysis there are other things that can win, but you are not satisfied with the performance.

“Sometimes the opposite happens. I am only talking about the performance, not the result. Of course, we need to win. Against Al Rayyan, we played better than Al Khor, but we did not win.

“Some talk about losing focus in the last minutes, and the fact that this problem may occur in any team, but this does not mean that we concede goals during those moments. With Al Wakrah, every time we lose focus, we concede a goal, this is clear and we must fix that matter,” said Marquez.

Al Wakrah player Lucas Mendes said, “The match against Al Ahli in the fourth round is very important in our campaign in the league. In general, it will be difficult for both teams because both are looking for the three points.

“We are still at the beginning of the season and we are trying to work and develop in every match, and we have a good team. We must complete the work to get the three points in every match.

“We have to work together as a team, not just the line of defence, and therefore we work to develop as a team on the field, so I hope we finish the season well.”
