Al Wakrah coach Marquez Lopez spoke to the media ahead of their 2021-2022 season QNB Stars League Week 3 match against Al Khor.

“Of course, we did not have enough time for the players’ recovery processes, and in the last match I changed two defenders and a goalkeeper in the last part of the match, and if you play with the same players, it is normal for them to feel tired and they may be injured, and this is a big problem. But this is the case for all teams. It is the calendar that we all have to respect, and the truth is that we weren't at all unlucky in the last game. Of the five defenders in the team, I changed three of them in the last quarter of an hour.

“We were keen to prepare the team in the best possible way during these exercises in order to help achieve the first victory in the league, and we realize that football needs continuous work in order to correct the negatives and build on the positives,” said Marquez.

Al Wakrah goalkeeper Mohammed Saeed said, “We are ready to face Al Khor in order to compensate for the loss of defeat to Al Rayyan.

“We are now in dire need of this victory in order to raise the morale of all team members, so we will make every possible effort during the course of the meeting in order to return with the three points.

“I have great confidence in Al Wakrah team’s ability to occupy an advanced position in the league this season in view of the ideal atmosphere that surrounds the team in general. The team is achieving positive results.”
