Umm Salal coach Sergio Farias spoke to the media ahead of their 2021-2022 season QNB Stars League Week 2 match against Al Khor.

“The important thing for us now is we should try to get three points so that we can take greater steps in the title race with the teams in front of us, especially since we lost in the first round against Al Rayyan. In order not to make any mistakes - and this must be a constant feature of our game throughout the league – we must strive for progression in every match.

“All mistakes made in the matches we have played so far, whether friendly or official, enabled us to look at our performances. Doing that can benefit us and help the team prepare fully for the next rounds. Whether we play offensive or defensive, good analysis can help us in all aspects,” said Farias.

Umm Salal player Ayman Abdennour said, “We are getting ready for an important match. It is going to be a difficult match for the two teams. Basically, it will be a fight for three points between the two sides.

“We are determined to pick up the three points especially since the team has prepared strongly after the loss last week. All Umm Salal players are determined to achieve the first victory of the new season.

“It is an important match between the two teams and our matches are always difficult and exciting because players of both teams aim to do their best. We must be well aware of the importance of the meeting, its strength and its difficulty, and we must take advantage of all opportunities that come our way to achieve the desired goal.”
