Al Shamal defeated Al Ahli 3-0 in Week 20 of the 2021-2022 season QNB Stars League at the Qatar SC Stadium on Friday.

Mohammed El Sayed (10th minute), Ali Alwan (48th minute) and substitute Fahad Waad (83rd minute) scored the goals as Al Shamal recorded their second successive victory, having beaten Al Khor 1-0 in Week 19.

Al Shamal took their points tally to 19 with their fifth victory.

Al Ahli, who suffered a 2-8 defeat at the hands of new champions Al Sadd in Week 19, remained on 23 points after their seventh loss.

Al Ahli’s Abdulaziz Al Hazza was shown the red card in stoppage time (90+5).

Al Shamal, coached by Hisham Zahid, were determined to bag as many points as possible at this stage in order to move away from the danger zone. And they succeeded in their mission.

Al Shamal and Al Ahli had played out a goalless draw in the first leg of 2021-2022 season QNB Stars League.

Al Ahli showed alacrity initially and Sandor dos Santos’ shot was parried over the bar by goalkeeper Marwan Sherif in the eighth minute.

Al Shamal soon took the lead through El Sayed (Jeddo). They gradually took control of the match and Ali Alwan’s shot from long range flew over the bar.

Jeddo, Alwan and Naser Al Nasr led Al Shamal’s charge as Al Ahli players could never get into their groove.

On to the second half and Alwan again had a close call with the goal in the 46th minute. But he found the target a couple of minutes later with a chip shot over the head of Al Ahli goalkeeper Ivanildo Rodriguez.

Fahad Waad made it 3-0 towards the end as both teams pressed hard to score.
