Al Wakrah on Saturday defeated Al Shamal 2-0 in Round 7 (Group A) of the 2021-2022 season Ooredoo Cup match at Al Wakrah Stadium.

 

Al Wakra now have a tally of 15 points from 5 victories and one loss. On the other hand, Al Shamal have 5 points from 1 win, 3 losses and 2 draws.

 

 

On Saturday, Ismail Mahmoud scored a brace for Al Wakra in the 30th and 49th minutes of the match.

 

 

Al Wakra on Saturday relied on a formation that included many stars most notably goalkeeper Saud Al-Khater, Jacintola Dalla, Othman Coulibaly, Murad Nagy, Ismail Mahmoud and Abdel-Ghani Mounir.

 

 

On the other hand, Al Shamal also relied on a strong group of players led by Matthias Nani, Escobar and Jeremy, in addition to Ali Awad, Majid Muhammad, Mujmmad Al-Jabri, and Abdel Aziz Mitwali.

 

 

Al Wakra dominated proceedings in the first half when they scored the first goal. Mahmoud gave his team reassurance and confidence throughout the match as Al Shamal could not deter the goal hero.

 

 

Al Wakra's first goal saw them gain momentum as the team was able - at the beginning of the second half - to add the second goal through Mahmoud again.

 

 

Despite several attempts by Al Shamal players to score, Al Wakrah stood the pressure well to close the match with a 2-0 scoreline.
