Al Khor beat Al Gharafa 4-2 in Round 5 (Group B) of the 2021-2022 season Ooredoo Cup match at Al Khor Stadium on Monday.

Kayke Rodrigues (44th minute), Anas Ahmed Ibrahim (45 + 4) and Rafael Vaz Dos Santos (68th minute) scored the three goals for Al Khor. Al Gharafa’s Saifeldeen Fadlalla scored an own goal in injury time.

Al Gharafa’s Sofiane Hanni (59th minute, penalty) and Cheick Diabete reduced the deficit in the second half.

It was Al Khor’s first win in the new season’s Ooredoo Cup after four matches.

The match got off to a slow start. Al Khor’s Fetfatzidid Ioannis charged into the Al Gharafa box but Fadlalla did well to block the move just as the former got close to taking a shot from close range in the 7th minute.

In the 22nd minute of the Group B clash, a slight over-dribble inside the Al Khor box by Al Gharafa’s Hanni cost him the chance to score from close range as both sides continued the battle for ball possession.

In the 36th minute, Al Khor’s Musab Abdulmajid was booked with a yellow for a reckless tackle on Amro Surag.

Two minutes before the first-half whistle, Salem Sultan Al Sufiani showed great speed to outpace Hanni with the Al Gharafa striker within close range of taking a shot from inside the Al Khor box.

A few seconds later, Al Khor opened the scoring through Rodrigues who tapped a cross by Greek winger Ioannis into the net from inside the box.

In injury time, Al Khor doubled the lead when Ibrahim slipped a low cross from Ioannis – stationed on the edge of the box - into the net.

In the second half, Hanni reduced the deficit with a penalty awarded after Al Khor’s Helal Mohamed Al Saeed was seen to have touched the ball with his arm on a shot by Amro Surag inside the Al Khor box.

In the 68th minute, Al Khor’s Dos Santos flicked a high ball into the net from close range on a loopy cross inside the Al Gharafa box to give his side a 3-1 lead.

In the dying seconds of injury time (90 +3), Diabete of Al Gharafa headed home from close range.

The next minute, Al Gharafa’s Fadlalla scored an own goal as Al Khor wrapped up a 4-2 win.
