Al Markhiya assistant coach Henk Duut spoke to the media ahead of their 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League Week 22 (final round) match against Al Ahli.

“We will work to prepare the players. At the end of the season, we gave the players two days’ rest and we carried out a technical analysis of the Al Ahli team and we also analyzed our previous match against Al Sailiya. We will talk to the players and urge them to win the Al Ahli match because it will keep us in seventh place, while defeat may bring us back to eighth place.

“We have decided to give opportunity to a number of players to play in the Al Sailiya match, those who did not get enough opportunity to play in the previous rounds.

“We are now in seventh place and I believe that we will fall to eighth place if we lose to Al Ahli by a big margin of goals. We were in eighth place for several rounds, but currently we are happy with seventh place, and we will work hard to maintain it,” said Henk Duut.

Al Markhiya captain Talal Ali said, “All players are fully prepared for the match and preparations for it are like any other match. We seek to keep doing well.

“Finishing the season in a good position for a promoted team is a great achievement and our ambition in the next season is to achieve a better position.”
