Qatari champions Al Sadd will take on Uzbekistan’s FC Nasaf in their AFC Champions League Group E opener on Friday, 8th April. The match will kick off at 20:15 at the Prince Mohamed Bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam.
Saudi Arabia’s Al Faisaly and Jordan’s Al Wehdat are the other teams in Group E.
Al Sadd had exited the tournament in the group stage last year and Round of 16 in 2020.
So The Wolves would look to travel farthest in the top continental competition this time around.
Nasaf made it to the tournament proper by beating the UAE’s Baniyas Club 2-0 in Play-Off.
Al Sadd, under the tutelage of Spaniard Javi Gracia, had recently retained the QNB Stars League shield with an unbeaten record (the only team to do so) and would look to sustain the momentum.
Not only will Al Sadd look to reach the knockout stage, but they will also compete for the title which they had won twice before, in 1989 and 2011.
Al Sadd have players of experience and expertise to do so.
