Qatar’s Al Rayyan face a tough task against Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal in the second round of 2022 AFC Champions League Group A on Monday, 11th April. The match will kick off at 20:15 at the Prince Faisal Bin Fahd Stadium in Riyadh.
Al Rayyan had beaten Tajikistan’s Istiklol by a 3-2 margin in their opener, while reigning champions Al Hilal had opened their campaign with a 2-1 win over the UAE’s Sharjah, both in Group A.
Algerian attacking midfielder Yacine Brahimi and Ivorian striker Yohan Boli (two goals) were Al Rayyan’s scorers against Istiklol.
Al Rayyan would look to build on their victory in the first round as they seek to progress to the knockout stage.
In fact, only Al Rayyan, among the four Qatari sides playing in the tournament, could register victory in the opening round of this year’s competition.
Al Rayyan are playing in this year’s AFC Champions League by virtue of having finished third in the 2020-2021 season QNB Stars League, behind champions Al Sadd and runners-up Al Duhail.
While Al Rayyan, coached by Chilean Nicolas Cordova, will continue to miss Iranian defender Shojae Khalilzadeh who is nursing a muscle injury, The Lions have many other players to deliver the goods.
