Al Gharafa were held to a 1-1 draw by Shabab Al Ahli Dubai in the third round of 2022 AFC Champions League Group C at the Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium in Jeddah on Thursday.

Sofiane Hanni had put Al Gharafa ahead by scoring in the 44th minute, but The Cheetahs had the heartbreak of conceding a stoppage-time (90+1) goal by Shabab Al Ahli Dubai’s Federico Cartabia.

Al Gharafa were cruising to their second victory when Shabab Al Ahli Dubai scored a last-gasp goal to share the spoils.

Al Gharafa had opened their campaign by holding Iranian club Foolad Khouzestan to a goalless draw and then beat Ahal FC of Turkmenistan by a 2-0 margin.

Al Gharafa thus remained unbeaten so far and have five points.

Meanwhile, Shabab Al Ahli Dubai moved on to three points after drawn encounters with Foolad Khouzestan and Ahal FC in the first two rounds.

Al Gharafa will face Shabab Al Ahli Dubai in the fourth round on Monday, 18th April.
