Al Arabi defeated Al Markhiya 1-0 in Round 3, Group B of the 2022-2023 season Ooredoo Cup at the Al Ersal 2 Stadium on Sunday.

With either side locked goalless for most part of the match, a keen battle ensued and it was a late strike from Omar Al Somah in the 85th minute that sealed the deal for Al Arabi.

This was Al Arabi’s second win of the tournament and they took their points tally to six.

Al Markhiya, who are yet to score a win, remained on one point.

Al Duhail, Al Gharafa, Al Rayyan and Al Shamal are the other teams in Group B.

Group A comprises Al Sadd, Al Wakrah, Umm Salal, Al Ahli, Qatar SC and Al Sailiya.

Al Arabi, who are leading in the league championship (QNB Stars League) which has taken a break after seven weeks of action, are continuing to show their good form in the Ooredoo Cup as well.

Despite being challenged hard and facing strong resistance, Al Arabi managed to break past Al Markhiya for a valuable win.
