Al Sadd coach Juan Manuel Lillo ‘Juanma’ spoke to the media ahead of their 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League Week 3 match against Al Ahli.

“All league matches are difficult and different. Al Ahli started the league very well and they will be difficult competitors for us. We worked on preparing well for the match through recent training and I have great confidence in all players in order to provide the best.

“Against Umm Salal in the last round, we played well, but we did not take advantage of the opportunities that came our way. We tried to score goals, but scoring is not always easy even if it is against 10 players, sometimes you make mistakes or sometimes you are not accurate.

“We expect to create chances to score again and hope to get a good result against Al Ahli, which is victory and three points, which will serve as a morale booster for the youngsters who are now playing in the team,” said Juanma.

Al Sadd goalkeeper Jehad Mohammed said, “Our goal is to win and compensate for the points we lost in the first two rounds and to make Al Sadd fans happy.

“Guarding Al Sadd is not an easy thing, there is always pressure as we always play to win. In the first match, against Al Markhiya, there was a bit of tension, but we thank God for what I and the young players provided. From game to game, we gain experience to be rise to everyone’s expectations.”
