QSL side El Jaish has unveiled Malian midfielder Seidou Keita today after the former FC Barcalona midfielder signed a six month deal with the club.

Keita was introduced to the media by senior Jaish player Wazim Rizik in the absence of head coach Sabri Lamouchi. “Keita is a huge addition for this club and has been wanted by the management for some time. His experience will be vital in the centre of midfield for El Jaish and is a crucial in our chances in both the AFC Champions League and QSL title race.”

The 36 year old midfielder had been tracked by Jaish head coach Sabri Lamouchi for some time and revealed his excitement to be joining the side. “I have been in contact with Sabri Lamouchi for at least two years about joining El Jaish, unfortunately on those occasions it had not been right but now I have my chance and I am looking forward to it.”

Jaish had to act sharply  following the injury to top scorer Abdulrazak Hamdullah in preseason, with Keita admitting that the deal was concluded quickly. “Once I was contacted by Sabri, and he explained the situation with Hamdullah it didn’t take much convincing to join the club. I have played in Asia before, but to play in the AFC and QSL was a big draw. I believe I can achieve good things with El Jaish in my six month contract with the club.”

El Jaish will now begin to focus on their crunch AFC Champions League clash against Al Nassr on the 24th of August.
