QSL champions Al Rayyan fell to their second defeat of preseason, losing 2-0 to local Spanish side FC Cartagena.A goal in either half was enough for the secunda division side to register a comfortable victory. The hosts opened the scoring on the 30th minute through midfielder Juanlu whilst minutes after the restart, Cartagena confirmed the win though a strike from Titi Sanz on the 48th minute.
Despite the defeat, head coach Jorge Fossati used most of his squad for the clash. The match will be seen as an ideal way for the QSL champions to build up their fitness ahead of the new season on the 15th of September.
Al Rayyan will now round of their preseason training camp in a match on the 19th of August against a unnamed side.
