Al Khor played Al Gharafa in the late kick off at the Al Khor stadium on Friday 17th Oct’ at 19:45 in the evening.
The game was as tense and tight affair with only two second half goals for all the teams’ efforts. The game ended in a draw with the points being shared.
Al Khor’s had won their previous game against Al Shahania (3-2) and were looking to get their second win of the season against Al Gharafa.
The Cheetahs had lost heavily in the previous round to Qatar SC (5-1) and were looking to forget the confidence breaking loss as quickly as possible with a win against Al Khor.
The first half ended goalless and it wasn’t until late in the second half that the deadlock was broken. Al Khor’s midfield engine Madson, getting the all-important goal on 68th minutes.
Baba Djibril’s goal line clearance went past everyone and fortuitously found the little Brazilian who was just onside as the ball found him. He ran in on goal and calmly placed the ball into the bottom left corner for the game’s opener.
And that’s how it stayed until in the 91st minute when Brazilian winger Nene came up with the goods for Gharafa and managed to salvage a point for his side. The Cheetahs were awarded a penalty and winger Nene stepped up.
The Brazilian sided footed the effort to the left of the keeper and a huge sigh of relief could be felt by all the Gharafa fans as they avoided a loss away from home.
The result means Al Gharafa stay where they are in the table (6th) and Al Khor move up to 11th place in the Qatar Stars League.
