Al Ahli’s new recruit Marko Jevtovic carries much weight of expectations on his shoulders ahead of the start of new season.
The Serbian midfielder, who looks forward to taking Al Ahli to greater heights this time, gave his takes on a range of topics in an Exclusive Interview with qsl.qa, on the sidelines of the Media Day, organised by the Qatar Stars League at the Al Duhail Indoor Hall on Tuesday, as part of preparations for the 2021-2022 season.
How do you look forward to the new season?
I’ve big motivation and am very much keen on the new season to start. As a player, I’ve big advantage playing in Qatar. The FIFA World Cup is fast-approaching and there’s great energy in all aspects of the game in Qatar. All that is inspiration for me to prove myself.
You’re new in Qatar. What’s your overview of this country?
Qatar is known for sports, especially football. The World Cup project has definitely increased the country’s visibility and popularity.
On the personal front, I can improve and enjoy my work.
What’s your opinion about the QNB Stars League?
The QNB Stars League has some amazing coaches and players. I knew about the league championship and other tournaments in Qatar earlier. Every team has a lot of quality players and that makes the competition tougher.
How about Al Ahli’s team composition this time?
We’ve a balanced squad, but there’s room for improvement. Our job is to work hard and better our performance. We’ll see the results at the end of the season. We’ve the potential to finish among the top four teams.
What’re your targets for the season?
We want to play well. As long as we win games, I’m happy. I’ll do everything in my capacity to help the team win matches. My personal goal is to play in the AFC Champions League. I believe we can do that.
