Al Sailiya has announced the signing of Uzbekistan striker Temurkhuja Abdukholiqov from Lokomotiv Tashkent on an eighteen month deal.

The club officially announced the signing of the twenty-five year old striker via their social media accounts late last night. It is thought that Abdukholiqov has been brought into replace Cameroonian striker Paul Efoulou, who has struggled to settle at the club since signing from Saudi club Al-Taawoun in the summer.

On signing his contact with the club, Abdukholiqov revealed his joy to be playing in the Qatar Stars League. “I am proud to be playing in the Qatar Stars League and in Qatar a country that will hold the World Cup in 2022. I am also pleased to have signed with Sailiya who have a great reputation in Qatar; hopefully I can repay the faith shown in me by the Sailiya management on the pitch.”

Abdukholiqov comes to the QSL with a burgeoning reputation from his homeland, were he was the league’s leading scorer during the 2015/2016 season. Al Sailiya coach Sami Trabelsi will be hoping that Abdukholiqov will now be available for his side’s crunch round 17 match-up against Umm Salal on Friday evening. Al Sailiya is currently in the relegation zone with a tally of fifteen points from sixteen QSL games.
