Umm Salal suffered another injury setback last night after one their key players was severely injured during the team’s 2-1 win over Al Khor. Abdel Aziz Al Yahri picked up the injury during the team’s Tuesday evening Round 14 fixture, an injury which doctors have since confirmed to be a fracture in his leg and a tear in the joint.
The injury occurred when Al Khor player Sultan Al Enzi and Abdel Aziz Al Yahri were both competing for the ball. The injury was immediately seen as severe and Al Yahri was taken directly to the hospital from the stadium. The club has confirmed that Al Yahri will now undergo further medical examinations in Aspetar in order to determine the treatment and recovery programme.
Al Yahri’s injury adds to Umm Salal’s long list of players who have been sidelined due to injury, with Mohamed El Sayed Jeddo, Ismail Mahmoud and Omar Yahya, all considered key first team players, also injured in recent weeks.
Despite the injury, Umm Salal picked up a vital three points in their search for a top four spot by defeating Al Khor 2-1. The Orange Fortress now have 19 points and will take on Al Rayyan in next Sunday’s Round 15 tie at Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium.
