The league’s organisers have made changes to the QSL fixture schedule which now also sees both the first and second half of the season affected.
The venues and timings of the second half of the season will see the first three rounds altered after taking into consideration the upcoming U23 AFC Asian Cup tournament (Rounds 14, 15 and 16).
In addition the QSL has made some amendments to the venues for the last few Rounds of the first half of the Qatar Stars League season (Rounds 9, 10, 12 & 13).
Second half of the season schedule amendments
Round 14 will be held on the 22 and 23rd of December and Round 15 will be held on the 2nd and 3rd of January.
The matches of Round 16 will be held on the 27th and 28th of January and Rounds 17 to 26 will be announced at a later date once the new AFC Champions League schedule is announced.
Round 9 amendments
The match between Al Sailiya and Al Gharafa will be shifted from Al Arabi Stadium to Al Wakrah stadium however the kick off time will remain the same and the match will still be played on Saturday.
However the match between Jaish and Arabi will now be moved to the earlier time of 4pm instead of 18:30. The venue will remain the same with the match being played at Al Arabi stadium.
Round 10 amendments
The Kharaitiyat – Al Gharafa match will now be played at the earlier time of 4pm on Friday November 27.
In addition the big clash between Al Sadd and Lekhwiya will now be held on Friday November 27 instead of on Saturday November 28. The venue of Al Sadd remains unchanged and the match will kick off at 18:30.
Also the match between Rayyan and Jaish will be held at 17:30 instead of the original time of 16:00 on Saturday November 28 in Al Sadd stadium.
Round 11
No amendments
Round 12
The fixture of Qatar SC vs. Al Gharafa will be played on Friday December 11 instead of Saturday December 12. The kick off time will also change from 4pm to 6:30pm.
The match between Rayyan and Al Sadd will be the only game to be played on Saturday December 12 at 17:30 instead of 18:30 at Al Sadd stadium.
Round 13
Sailiya vs. Al Arabi and Al Khor vs. Al Gharafa have been shifted from Gharafa stadium to Al Ahli stadium but the kick off times remain the same and the matches will still be held on of December 16.
Rayyan vs. Al Ahli and Jaish against Al Sadd will be shifted from Al Ahli to Al Gharafa but the dates and time will remain the same.
Head of Competitions at the QSL Mr Ahmed Adsani said “The dates, times and location of the remaining Rounds in the second half of the season will be announced at a later date (Rounds 17 to 26).
“We noted that the schedule didn’t give enough time to the teams, and we didn’t want to wait until the AFC announces the new Champions League schedule, so we preferred to announce now the first three Rounds of the second half of the season. These first three Round in the second part of the season will be held at Al Ahli, Al Gharafa, Al Wakrah and Al Khor because the other stadiums (Al Arabi, Qatar and Al Sadd stadiums) will be busy with the U23 Asian Cup competition.”
Mr Adsani added, “That the upcoming matches of 9, 12, and 13 had been changed after consultation with the Ministry of Sport, the Olympic Committee, Venue Security, and QSL Administration. Also the QSL’s Marketing and Communications along with the QSL Events department requested that the Rayyan vs. Al Sadd match be the only fixture played on Saturday December 12 due to its historic significance.”
Adsani concluded by saying “Arabi and El Jaish sent an official letter to the QSL to ask for a change in the kick off time for their match which was originally scheduled for 18:30. The match will now be played at 4pm.”
