Al Rayyan cannot afford another slip-up when they face Al Khor in Week 19 of the QNB Stars League on Friday, 15th March. The kick-off is at 17:00 at the Al Sadd Stadium.

Al Rayyan are coming off back-to-back defeats, against Al Sadd (0-4) in the Qatar Clasico in Week 17 and Al Shahania (0-3) in Week 18. They will be hard-pressed to bring a halt to their losing streak in order to stay in the top four that will brighten their prospects of playing in next year’s AFC Champions League as well.

However, The Lions can take heart from the fact that they put up an impressive display and came back from a goal down to beat Uzbekistan’s Lokomotiv 2-1 in the second round of 2019 AFC Champions League on 11th March.

Al Rayyan had lost 1-5 to Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad in their opening match.

Al Rayyan are fourth in the QNB Stars League standings with 30 points (eight wins, six draws and four defeats). They have a goal difference of +3 (25 goals for and 22 against).

Al Ahli are placed fifth with just one point less and Al Arabi are close behind with 27 points, so Al Rayyan are sure to go all out for a win.

Al Khor, meanwhile, are on a high after recording two consecutive victories (3-1 against Qatar SC and 1-0 against Umm Salal). The six points from the last two games took their points tally to 15, six more than bottom-placed Al Kharaitiyat.

The Knights will look to complete a hat-trick of wins as they are not fully safe from the danger zone.

Al Khor have four victories and three draws to their credit. They lost 11 matches and have a goal difference of -17 (17 goals for and 34 against).
