Portuguese master Jesualdo Ferreira of Al Sadd was named as the best coach of 2018-19 season. He warded off the challenge from Al Sailiya’s Tunisian trainer Sami Trabelsi and Al Shahania’s Spanish master Jose Murcia.

Ferreira, who guided Al Sadd to the league triumph, helped The Wolves make great progress and they set many records in the tournament. Al Sadd scored a record number of 100 goals in 22 matches, winning 18 of them, drawing three and losing one. They conceded only 22 goals to have a goal difference of +78, the most by any team.

Al Sadd finished the league with 57 points, seven more than second-placed Al Duhail. They clinched the title with one round of action remaining, following their victory over Al Ahli.

Ferreira, who took over Al Sadd in November, 2015, is vastly experienced and has managed a host of top European sides including the likes of Malaga in Spain and Panathinaikos in Greece.

He has also coached Porto, Sporting, Braga and Benfica in his native country.

Ferreira had won the same award in the 2016-17 season as well.
