Al Wakrah knew that Kharaitiyat had drawn earlier in the day to Al Khor and that the game against Qatar Sports Club (QSC) would be a good opportunity to gain some vital points. However this match would turn out to be a tough lesson for the Waves whose defense was disjointed and at times naïve.

Some credit should also go to a clinical Kings side, in particular the tireless Harboui who was at the center of everything good for the yellow & blacks tonight.

The first half saw the Kings going ahead early on when the Tunisian Harboui tapped in form close range, after confusion reigned in the box and the ball fell kindly to the big man, who did what he does best (7’).

After the goal Al Wakrah had a slight edge as they looked for the equalizer, yet it was QSC who went on to secure a two goal cushion courtesy of the Korean midfielder Kooky Yong (31’). The midfielder broke up an attack and went on an unchallenged 50 yard run towards the edge of the box; he positioned the ball onto his right side and smashed home a classy individual effort.

Al Wakrah was “on the ropes” so to speak and just a minute later QSC took full advantage and made it three goals when Mahir Yusuf got his first of the night.

Al Wakrah’s only chance of the half came from a corner when their captain Mohammed Sulaity almost scored from a goal mouth scramble just before the break (40’).

In the second half QSC carried on from where they had left off, Mahir Yusuf got his second and the kings fourth of the night with a long range strike from the center of the park (47).

Both teams made some changes but it was too late for Nouradine Zakri’s men as anger and frustration took hold.

Then in the 59th minute Mousa Allaq popped in the box, controlling a cross from the left before smashing in a fine effort.

As the game wore on Mahir Yousuf was exploiting the ring wing to great effect as he went on a charging run before cutting in and supplying a pin-point pass for substitute Fadhl Omar who finished off a great counter attack (82’).

When it looked like things couldn’t get any worse for the home side, Khalid Zakiba bagged a goal in the 88th minute on a night that was starting to look farcical for the Waves!

This match in round 11 proved to the biggest single score victory so far this season.

The result pushes the Kings above El Jaish and into 4th on 19 points whilst the home side –Al Wakrah are just above the drop zone in 12th place with only 7 points.
