Al Wakrah are continuing their preparations for the 2026-2027 season following the conclusion of a training camp in Rennes, France (July 17-August 2), focusing on fitness, tactics and squad integration under coach Jose Luis Sierra.
The camp and warm-up games helped coach Sierra and technical staff put the new and existing players through their paces and finetune the squad’s preparations for a long and challenging season ahead.

Al Wakrah played four friendly matches during the camp. They beat French club Stade Brestois 2-0, but lost to Nantes (1-5), Caen (1-4) and FC Roanne (0-1).
The camp provided an important opportunity for the coaching staff to evaluate the performance of new players and key members of the squad, work on improving team performance and prepare the team for upcoming challenges.
Al Wakrah finished the 2025-2026 Doha Bank Stars League in eighth place with 27 points (seven wins, six draws and nine defeats). They scored 32 goals and conceded 36 goals.

Al Wakrah strengthened the squad by signing Rabeh Boussafi, Mohamed Ibrahim (Simo) and Tameem Mansour. They will join a squad that retains key figures Luis Alberto, Lucas Mendes, Amin Zahzouh, Aissa Laidouni, Jacinto Dala, Gerard Valentin, Hamdy Fathy, Redouane Berkane, Ayoub Assal, Almahdi Ali and goalkeeper Mohammed Al Bakri.
Al Wakrah will kick off their 2026-2027 Doha Bank Stars League campaign against Qatar SC on August 20 at Lusail Stadium. The Blue Wave will look to climb the table and make deeper runs in domestic competitions.
