Al Wakrah player Redouane Berkane said his team was aiming for a distinguished standing in the 2026-2027 season Doha Bank Stars League, adding that the upcoming phase requires a great deal of work and focus from all players to fulfil the aspirations of the club and fans.
“We are happy with the start of the new season, and we are fully aware of the responsibility placed upon us. Our preparations were good, and we held an overseas training camp in France, from which we benefited greatly at both the physical and technical levels. We also played four friendly matches that helped us raise our level of readiness and cohesion, and implement the coaching staff’s tactical ideas before the official competitions begin.
“We started our league campaign against Qatar SC and it was a tough match that ended in a draw. Of course, we were aiming for a win and all three points, but we came away with several positives, and we will work on learning from this match, correcting our mistakes and improving our erformance in the upcoming rounds,” said Berkane.
Regarding the upcoming match against Al Rayyan, he said, “We expect a tough and challenging game against a great team with outstanding players and high technical abilities. We must be at our most focused and prepared state, and give our best throughout the match to achieve the result we aspire to.
“My goal with Al Wakrah is clear: to exert maximum effort and help my teammates and the team achieve victories and reach the best possible position. Football is a team sport and the success of any player is linked to the success of the entire team.”
Berkane concluded by saying, “The season is still in its early stages, and there is a long way to go. We must take it one game at a time, maintaining our focus and fighting spirit. We have faith in our abilities and in the work we are doing, and we will do everything we can to make Al Wakrah fans happy and achieve the club’s ambitions this season.”
