League leaders Al Sadd secured a vital 3-1 victory over Al Sailiya in Week 21 of 2025-2026 season Doha Bank Stars League at the Al Bayt Stadium on Wednesday.

Akram Afif stole the show with a brace, finding the net in the 10th and 48th minutes, while Roberto Firmino added a third goal in the 70th minute. The win took The Wolves to 42 points with one match remaining.

Relegation-threatened Al Sailiya, who stayed on 19 points, grabbed a late consolation through Anwar El Ghazi in the 80th minute.

Afif opened the scoring with a clinical right-footed finish from the centre of the box after a precise pass from Hashim Ali. He doubled the lead early in the second half by latching onto a through ball from Firmino.

The Qatari star was denied a hat-trick when his 63rd-minute penalty was superbly saved by goalkeeper Fahad Younis. Firmino later made it 3-0 from a Paulo Otavio assist.

Despite the late reply from El Ghazi, Al Sadd comfortably held on to strengthen their position at the summit.
