Umm Salal secured a shocking 5-2 defeat over league leaders Al Sadd in Week 18 of 2025-2026 season Doha Bank Stars League at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium of Al Sadd club on Friday. 

Goals from Jean Evrard Kouassi (29th minute), Cristo Gonzalez (35th and 38th minutes), Abdalaziz Al Hasia (45+5 minute) and Salem Al Hajri (60th minute) propelled Umm Salal to the stunning victory against the defending champions.

Giovani Henrique had given Al Sadd an early opener in the sixth minute with a left-footed shot from outside the box off a precisely-taken pass by Roberto Firmino before Umm Salal opened the floodgates of goals.

Al Sadd, who remained on top of the league with 38 points, got their second goal via a spot kick by Akram Afif in the 89th minute.

The victory moved Umm Salal to 19 points in the standings and a relatively safe distance away from the relegation battle.
