<p>The encounter between Al Sadd vs Al Rayyan, dubbed Qatar Clasico, on Saturday, 22nd September, highlights the QNB Stars League’s Week 6 action. Much is at stake for coaches, players, officials, administrators, fans, sponsors and partners alike.</p><p>It also pits two of Qatar’s best teams against each other in terms of reputation and strength.</p><p>Al Sadd is the leader among Qatari clubs in terms of titles won and achievements made at the national, regional and continental levels, while Al Rayyan have been a major force in Qatar’s football scene.</p><p>Al Sadd, nicknamed The Wolves, are on a high after making it into the semifinals of the AFC Champions League with a 5-3 aggregate win over Iran’s Esteghlal.</p><p>Al Sadd, coached by Portuguese Jesualdo Ferreira, are second in the QNB Stars League table with 10 points, the same as Al Duhail who are behind on goal difference.</p><p>Al Sadd boast of Spanish stars Xavi Hernandez and Gabi Fernandez, Algerian ace Baghdad Bounedjah, Akram Afif, Hassan Al Haydous, Ali Asad, Boualem Khoukhi and South Korean midfielder Jung Woo-Young.</p><p>Al Rayyan’s confidence is also high as they occupy the top position in the standings with 11 points even though they have played a match more than Al Sadd and Al Duhail.</p><p>The Lions, under Argentinian Rodolfo Arruabarrena, surged ahead after defeating Al Arabi in Week 5.</p><p>Al Rayyan have in their ranks Rodrigo Tabata, Sebastian Soria, Khalfan Ibrahim, Daniel Goumou, Gonzalo Vieira and Koh Myong-Jin and Jonathan Menendez.
