Al Rayyan coach Diego Aguirre spoke to the media ahead of their 2020-21 season QNB Stars League Week 1 match against Al Sailiya.

“Al Sailiya are a good team with talented players and they have a great coach. We all know the strengths of Al Sailiya, who always compete for top positions, and we have to be on top of our focus and readiness while facing them.

“With full appreciation for Al Sailiya, we, at Al Rayyan, want to start the new league on a strong note and our ambition is to improve our results from what we achieved last season. We are fighting for the title this season as well.

“I am confident that Al Rayyan are able to repeat what we did last season. It is very important for us to start strongly and win the first match. If you remember, we drew our first three matches last season and wasted early points. We do not want that this time around and I trust my players,” said Aguirre.

Al Rayyan player Abdulrahman Al Harazi said, “We are ready and there is nothing that will make us retreat. The Al Sailiya team is different this season as they reinforced the squad and have stability on the technical front. Last season, we could not win the title, but we are satisfied with what we did. We congratulate Al Duhail on winning the league shield. Al Rayyan always enter the competitions to win them.”
