Al Arabi coach Heimir Hallgrimsson spoke to the media ahead of their 2020-21 season QNB Stars League Week 2 match against Al Ahli.
“My team performed well against Al Ahli last season. We played well tactically and all games between Al Arabi and Al Ahli are difficult. Our opponents are a team that is improving greatly.
“They had put up a strong performance against Al Wakrah in the first round and came out with a valuable victory. The win will definitely motivate Al Ahli.
“Our performance against Al Khor in the first week was really disappointing. The painful thing is the loss of two points, especially since we played well in the first half. But Al Khor did not give up and I am not happy that we did not sustain the momentum after scoring two goals. We felt very disappointed after the equaliser. The most painful thing was losing two points in the last minute.
“We must be disciplined tactically and the opponents have good players who are fast with the ball. That shows Al Ahli’s strength. Their coach has worked well with his team and achieved a good victory, so we must be careful while dealing with them. And their confidence is high,” said Hallgrimsson.
Al Arabi player Mohammed Salah El Neel said, “The match against Al Ahli will be exciting and we seek to compensate for the loss of two points in the first game. Our ambition is to win against a team that is coming from a good victory.”
