Al Wakra defeated Umm Salal 3-1 on Monday in Round 6 (Group A) of the 2021-2022 season Ooredoo Cup match at Al Wakrah Stadium.
Al Wakra picked up three valuable points and raised their overall tally to 12 to be top of Group A with 4 wins and 1 loss. Umm Salal failed to add to their tally of 7 points (two wins, two losses and one draw).
Angolan professional Gelson Dala struck a superb hat-trick for Al Wakra (70th minute, 76th minute and 86th minute). Adel Alawi Al Sulimane scored for Umm Salal in the 55th minute of the match.
The first half ended without a goal scored by both teams. However, Al Wakra clearly emerged as the dangerous side of the two while Umm Salal struggled with rhythm in the first half.
The scales tilted in favour of Umm Salal early in the second half when Al Sulimane found the net in the 55th minute.
As the minutes progressed, Al Wakra players regained their balance and were able to equalize in the 70th minute through Dalla, the 25-year-old forward, who also scored his team's second goal in the 76th minute of the match.
With confidence on their side, Al Wakra proved they had an advantage over Umm Salal as they managed to score the third goal through Dalla in the 86th minute.
Al Wakrah easily retained composure to wrap up a convincing win.
