Al Ahli beat Al Sailiya 1-0 in Week 10 of the 2021-2022 season QNB Stars League at the Al Ahli Stadium on Friday.

Patrick Eze scored the all-important goal (90+6) to hand The Brigadiers their first victory in this season’s tournament.

Al Ahli moved on to nine points and Al Sailiya remained on five points following their seventh defeat.

Both teams went into the game in a desperate situation, being in the bottom half of the table.

Al Sailiya attacked more from the beginning. They had two goals disallowed, in the 12th and 25th minutes. First, it was Driss Fettouhi and then it was Valentin Adama, who were at the receiving end.

In between the disallowed goals, Ramin Rezaein had a good opportunity in the 16th minute with only Al Ahli goalkeeper Yazan Naim to beat, but he fumbled with a through pass.

Al Sailiya continued their domination in the second half, but a goal eluded them.

The Peregrines’ misfortune continued as Adama’s penalty kick was blocked by the goalkeeper in the 50th minute.

Al Saiiya had won another penalty in the 90th minute, but VAR ruled it out.

Al Ahli showed alacrity as the game progressed, but they also could not make a breakthrough and the stalemate continued until Nigerian striker Eze struck the winner deep into the game. He sent the ball into an open net when Al Sailiya goalkeeper Claude Amine had left his charge in a bid to thwart a counter-attack.
