19:50 kick-off at Al Wakrah Stadium
Al Rayyan face Al Ahli in Round 2 (Group A) of the 2021-2022 season Ooredoo Cup at the Al Wakrah Stadium on Wednesday.
Al Wakrah, Umm Salal and Al Shamal are the other teams in Group A of the tournament, which features 10 teams this time, five in each group.
Al Rayyan, who were not seen in action in the opening round, will be eager to start their campaign in the Ooredoo Cup on a bright note.
The Lions, coached by Frenchman Laurent Blanc, would hope they repeat their victory over Al Ahli in Week 5 of the 2021-2022 QNB Stars League, with Yacine Brahimi scoring the only goal with a penalty kick.
Al Rayyan are fifth in the league standings with six points.
Blanc would also hope their new Colombian star recruit James Rodriguez completes his recovery process and take the field soon.
Al Ahli, under the tutelage of Nebojsa Jovovic, are second in the group standings with a single point they collected from their 2-2 draw with Al Shamal in Round 1.
The Brigadiers have not yet recorded a victory in the league championship as well, so they will look to settle into their stride sooner.
