QSL side Al Rayyan clinched the  Qatar Stars League title for the 2015/2016 season on Saturday evening, with a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Al Wakrah at Al Sadd stadium. QSL online decided to look at ten key stats that underlines the dominance of the Lions this season.
 
 Al Rayyan well ahead of rivals
Al Rayyan confirmed the Qatar Stars League title after reaching 60 points from 21  QSL games, The lions have only dropped points once this season. That was in a tight Qatari classico defeat to rivals Al Sadd in Decemeber. Since then Rayyan have registered 9 back to back wins culminating in them sealing the title against Al Wakrah.

Return of the league shield after 25 years
Al Rayyan team regained the league shield after 25 years since the 1994/1995 season, when they won the league title for the last time. This the 8th league title for Al Rayyan which commenced on 1975, 1977, 1981, 1983, 1989, 1995 and finally 2016.




141 the magic number.
Al Rayyan’s match against Al Wakrah was the 141st of the Qatar Stars League season. It proved to be Rayyan’s lucky number as they lifted the QSL falcon shield.

Record breaking 11 consecutive wins .
Al Rayyan’s record breaking year, started with a huge 11 game winning streak. The streaks lead to Al Rayyan climbing to the top of the QSL standings. This is a new record in the QSL season of consecutive wins from the start of the league campaign.

History repeating itself
Winning the Qatar Stars League title for the season 2015/2016 straight from the Qatar Gas League is considered a major achievement. However this year’s victory has parallels with the 1989/1990 season when Rayyan went to lift the QSL title after coming up from the second division.

5 Rounds left to play.
All Concoring Al Rayyan Sealed the QSL shield with five games left to play. Al Rayyan have games against  QSC, El Jaish, Al Gharafa, Al Sadd and Al Ahli respectively.


 
Scoring rate 3 goals per match
Al Rayyan comes at the top of the best teams undisputed in terms of the number of goals scored during the 21 games so far in the Qatar Stars League. Rayyan have scored a total of  63 goals averaging  3 goals in every game, underlining the attacking strength of Jorge Fossati’s side.

Defensive strength
Al Rayyan also lead the way defensively. The team has only conceded 14 goals this season so far, the Lions have Averaging 0.66 per game, less than one goal per match.

Big wins.
The biggest win for Al Rayyan was a 9-0 victory over Qatar SC in Round 9. Captain fantastic Rodrigo Tabata grabbed four in the match.

Al Rayyan striker Rodrigo Tabata has lead the way for his side this season. Al Rayyan’s captain has been on fine form this season and leads the way in the scoring charts for his side. So far he has scored 18 goals this season18. Despite missing both Round 19 and 20, Tabata is still the top goal scorer in the QSL.
