Al Arabi coach Heimir Hallgrimsson spoke to the media ahead of their 2020-21 season QNB Stars League Week 18 match against Qatar SC.
"There was not enough time to prepare for this match. We had only three days after the Amir Cup match against Al Sailiya. The preparations have been more than physical for us with a focus on tactical points. The team has been providing steady levels for a while and we are always trying to develop our performance. We are working well during the current period and with diligence in work we will continue to provide the best.
"I hope to see a good performance against Qatar SC in the next match. They are a team that is not easy and it will be a difficult match. We always try to develop performance to keep pace with the big teams and we have distinguished players such as Ahmed Fathy and Abdullah Marafy and in the last period Abdulrahman Inad and Mahmoud Abunada performed well, who I think from my point of view is the best goalkeeper in Qatar and still has a lot to offer.
"The positive results that we see are actually coming through teamwork from the administrative, medical and technical staff and the players on the pitch. The team spirit is the one that dominates in the end. Yes, the arrival of Yousef Msakni and Ayoub Azzi had an impact on the team. With good team spirit we were able to exploit their capabilities and employ them in the best way,” said Hallgrimsson.
Al Arabi player Mehrdad Mohammadi said, "We hope to win to prove to everyone that Al Arabi deserve a better position than where they are in right now. When I joined Al Arabi, I knew the following Al Arabi club enjoys with its large fanbase and my goal from the start was to help the team provide the best and please the fans.
"I just needed time to adapt to the team and bring out my best. Our team deserves to be in a better position than it is right now. I know very well the impact of winning and achieving good positions that please the fans, and that is what I seek with Al Arabi - which is the happiness of fans."
