Al Wakrah coach Marquez Lopez spoke to the media ahead of their 2020-21 season QNB Stars League Week 22 match against Al Kharaitiyat.

“Al Kharaitiyat played their last match in the league against Al Arabi only three days before while we did not have to play then as we had already played our Week 21 match against Al Gharafa on 16th March. That gives us physical advantage and it is important that we can use it during the course of the match.

“Our preparations for all matches are almost the same way, through hard work, and with the same mentality of the previous match. I am happy with the previous weeks in training with the team pushing the players to achieve positive results.

“What is important for Al Wakrah is to stay in the first division for the second time after climbing from the second division, and this season was more difficult for us, and my goal at the beginning of the season was to take a step forward from last season. We got sixth place and my goal was to go one step further, but that did not happen because of some difficulties that had happened,” said Marquez.

Al Wakrah player Abdulghani Muneer said, “Certainly the match will be difficult and we aim to show a good level in the last game of this season and to collect the three points in the hope of ending the season in a better position.”
