Umm Salal coach Aziz Ben Askar spoke to the media ahead of their 2020-21 season QNB Stars League Week 17 match against Al Ahli.
“Our players are ready. We also have young players who have been working with us from an early age. As for the match, it is certain that it will be difficult because we will play against good competitors who have distinguished players. And for us, I am sure that there are players who were not happy because they did not have the opportunity to prove their worth for the team.
“In football, everything is possible. We are focused on ourselves and we are working hard to prepare for this match and then we will see what we get on the pitch.
“The match will be difficult until the last minute and we have prepared the players for that. Fifteen points will not be enough and we watched Al Khor come back and there is Al Wakrah, also a good team as well as Al Kharaitiyat, so we have to play hard,” said Ben Askar.
Umm Salal player Adel Alawi said, “During preparations, the coach briefed us on the negatives and positives of Al Ahli. We played well against Qatar SC and the opponents scored a goal from the penalty spot in the last minute. Luck was not on our side. We hope we will succeed in the next match, which will be very difficult, and our goal is to win the three points in order to be in the safe zone.”
