Al Arabi coach Heimir Hallgrimsson spoke to the media ahead of their 2020-21 season QNB Stars League Week 13 match against Al Ahli.

“We had performed well in the last three matches and before in the confrontations against Al Duhail and Al Rayyan, as well as in the Amir Cup final against Al Sadd.

“The team has significantly improved in the past period and we have achieved three consecutive victories thanks to the lack of injuries, the tactical understanding that the players have reached and the continuous participation together.

“We respect Al Ahli, they played a good season and surprised many with their good performance, led by their coach Nebojsa, who led them to stability, so we have to make a good match and give our best to win, knowing that it will be a difficult match, but the most important thing is our confidence in ourselves.

“Our preparations for the Al Ahli match are not much different from previous matches, which are good preparation, studying the opponent and knowing the strengths and weaknesses. At the same time, we focus on developing many aspects such as team spirit, which comes automatically after each victory, and what we are trying to do is improve the team for the better,” said Hallgrimsson.

Al Arabi player Sebastian Soria said, “We have a wonderful group of players who are doing their best and working hard for the team and I feel comfortable in the club.

“Facing Al Ahli will be difficult like all matches in the league, but in particular this match is important to us after three consecutive victories to continue the fighting spirit of the players. I also hope to provide the same performance that we did in the past games in order to win.

“As the coach said, it was not our best performance in the last three games, but the team made good levels before against Al Rayyan, Al Duhail and in the Amir Cup final against Al Sadd. But the circumstances did not serve us and the most important for us is to keep putting up good performance.”
