The 2020-21 season QNB Stars League’s Week 8 action witnessed changes in the ranking table, be it in the top, middle or bottom positions. A total of 18 goals were scored (with an average of three goals per game) across six matches of which only one ended in a draw.
Al Sadd retained the top position with a 4-1 victory over Al Wakrah. The Wolves moved on to 22 points with an unbeaten record, the only team to do so thus far in the tournament, while The Blue Wave remained on 10 points to be placed eighth.
Al Gharafa displaced Al Ahli from the second spot by beating them by a 4-0 margin. The Cheetahs have 18 points, whereas Al Ahli slipped to third with 16 points.
Reigning champions Al Duhail suffered a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Al Sailiya and slipped from fourth to sixth place with 12 points. The Peregrines moved from eighth to seventh with 11 points.
Instead, Al Rayyan, who drew 1-1 with Al Arabi in the week’s marquee clash, occupied the fourth position with 12 points. Al Arabi, however, stood 10th with six points.
Qatar SC, who completed a hat-trick of victories after beating Al Khor 3-0, and Al Duhail too have 12 points, but Al Rayyan were placed above on better record.
Qatar SC, who had beaten Al Wakrah 1-0 in Week 6 and Al Arabi 3-0 in Week 7, are placed fifth, while Al Khor slipped from 11th to bottom position with four points. The Knights are the only side yet to register a win.
Umm Salal climbed from bottom to ninth position with seven points as they scored a 1-0 win over Al Kharaitiyat, who are now 11th with six points.
