Qatar SC blanked Al Khor 3-0 in Week 8 of the 2020-21 season QNB Stars League at the Al Duhail Stadium on Wednesday.
A brace by new recruit Youcef Belaili (39th and 72nd minutes) and a 20th-minute goal by Hamed Ismail helped Qatar SC to a hat-trick of victories in the tournament.
The Kings had beaten Al Wakrah 1-0 in Week 6 and Al Arabi 3-0 in Week 7. They now have four wins and 12 points.
Al Khor, with their fourth defeat, now occupy the bottom position with four points.
Qatar SC showed their attacking prowess from the start, with Belaili and Anthony Okpotu leading their charge, and the latter tested rival goalkeeper Baba Djibril as early as the fifth minute.
Hamed volleyed in an Okpotu cross from the right that beat a diving Djibril, who was then beaten hands down by Belaili’s rising shot from distance as Qatar SC cruised to a 2-0 lead.
Okpotu had a shot deflected out by Al Khor defender Robert Melki.
Belaili missed a penalty towards the close of first half as his shot was blocked by Djibril. The penalty was awarded when Al Khor captain Helal Mohammed fouled Qatar SC’s Under-23 player Yousef Ayman.
Al Khor, who could do little in the first half other than Leonardo De Souza’s shot that was deflected out, showed more purpose from the start of second half.
In one such attack, Ioannis Fetfatzidid headed out a cross from Mohammed Elsayed.
Not long after, Qatar SC added a third goal, with Belaili chipping in the ball past an advancing Djibril after the former latched on to a through pass off a counter-attack.
Al Khor, who attacked more through the wings, had to be satisfied with Leonardo’s shot that went straight to goalkeeper Jassim Al Hail and Mohammed Elsayed’s header over the bar.
