<p>Al Wakrah defeated Al Kharaitiyat 2-0 in Week 22 (final round) of the 2020-21 season QNB Stars League at the Al Sadd Stadium on Saturday.</p><p>Abdulrahman Mohammed (14th minute) and Abdulghani Muneer (45+1) scored for Al Wakrah, who finished eighth with 26 points following their seventh victory.</p><p>Al Wakrah and Al Sailiya ended up with the same number of points, but the former were placed ahead on better goal difference (-10 as against Al Sailiya’s -14).</p><p>Al Kharaitiyat, who were directly relegated to the Second Division after Week 21 action despite defeating Al Arabi 2-1, stood on 12 points at the bottom of the table after suffering their 18th defeat.</p><p>Al Wakrah, with Mohamed Benyettou leading their charge, made more attacks from the start and they were rewarded with two goals for their efforts in the first half.</p><p>Abdulrahman Mohammed inflicted the first blow on Al Kharaitiyat when he scored with a rising shot from the left side of the box after darting into the area.</p><p>Just when the half was drawing to a close came the second goal as Abdulghani Muneer headed in Murad Naji’s measured cross from the right flank.</p><p>In between, Benyettou had his chip shot go wide of the target.</p><p>The closest when Al Kharaitiyat came to scoring was when they earned a free-kick, but Mohammed Osman’s effort was saved by Al Wakrah goalkeeper Saoud Al Khater.</p><p>Al Kharaitiyat brought in their spearhead Rachid Tiberkanine in the second half. The Moroccan did make some serious efforts, but could not be sucessful.</p><p>Mohammed Osman attempted a long-range shot around 70 minutes. However, that went way over the crossbar.</p><p>Al Wakrah’s substitute Omar Ali had his header parried over the bar by goalkeeper Shehab Ellethy in the 79th minute.</p><p>Al Wakrah generally adopted a cautious approach in the second half and they hung on for victory.</p>
