Al Khor held Al Duhail to a 1-1 draw in Week 21 of the 2020-21 season QNB Stars League at the Al Ahli Stadium on Tuesday.

Eduardo Rodriguez (Dudu) scored for Al Duhail in the 49th minute, but Giannis Fetfatzidid nullified the advantage by converting a penalty for Al Khor in the 65th minute.

Al Duhail, who had ensured the runners-up position following their 3-2 victory over Al Arabi in Week 20 behind already-crowned Al Sadd, are now on 44 points.

Al Khor have 16 points and warded off the threat of direct relegation to the Second Division.

It was a vastly-improved show by Al Khor, who had lost 1-6 to Al Duhail in the first leg of 2020-21 season QNB Stars League, as they matched their rivals right throughout.

Al Khor’s Ismail Elhaddad skied his shot in the 16th minute and Pierre-Michel Lasogga soon headed over the bar.

Al Khor could find gap in the rival area and Fetfatzidid was off-target in first-half injury time.

Al Duhail’s first real chance fell to Dudu, whose shot was parried by goalkeeper Baba Djibril.

At the other end, Salah Zakaria did well below the Al Duhail bar.

The Red Knights came close to scoring in the 41st minute. This time, Djibril first blocked Almoez’s volley and Ismail Mohammed hit the rebound wide of the target.

Al Duhail, who enjoyed more possession in the first half, upped the ante in the second half and were soon rewarded when Dudu came up with an opportunistic strike after Al Khor defender Khaled Radwan effected a faulty clearance in a goalmouth melee following a cross from the right by Ali Karami.

Al Khor tried hard even as Al Duhail replaced Mohammed Muntari with Michael Olunga. The Knights were soon on level terms, with Dudu scoring off a penalty, awarded following a handball offence by Ali Karami.
