The 2020-21 season QNB Stars League’s Week 20 action, where as many as 18 goals were scored, witnessed exciting action. All six matches were played on Saturday, 3rd April.

The results were:

Al Gharafa lost to Al Sadd        0-2

Al Arabi lost to Al Duhail         2-3

Al Wakrah drew Al Khor 0-0

Al Kharaitiyat lost to Al Ahli    1-2

Umm Salal bt Al Rayyan 3-2

Qatar SC lost to Al Sailiya         1-2

New champions Al Sadd got back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Al Gharafa to be on 54 points. It was The Wolves’ 17th victory, while The Cheetahs remained on 30 points after crashing to their ninth defeat. In the process, they slipped one position to sixth in the table.

Al Duhail staged a comeback 3-2 win over Al Arabi to ensure they finish as this season’s runners-up. The Red Knights now have 43 points, whereas Al Arabi stood in the seventh spot with 26 points.

Al Rayyan stood third with 34 points despite losing 2-3 to Umm Salal, who remained 10th even though they moved on to 18 points.

Al Ahli gained much ground as they climbed from sixth to fourth place with 32 points following their 2-1 last-gasp victory over Al Kharaitiyat, who remained at the bottom of the table with nine points and are very much facing direct relegation to the Second Division.

Al Sailiya, who recently won the 2020-21 season Ooredoo Cup, continued their good performances as they beat Qatar SC 2-1. The Peregrines, however, stood eighth in the standings with 26 points, while The Kings slipped from fourth to fifth position with 31 points.

In the other game, Al Wakrah and Al Khor were locked in a goalless draw to remain in ninth and 11th position with 23 and 15 points respectively.

The 2020-21 season QNB Stars League’s Week 21 matches will be played on Tuesday, 6th April, and Wednesday, 7th April.

The fixtures are Qatar SC vs Al Ahli (Al Sadd Stadium, 16:00), Al Sadd vs Al Rayyan (Al Sadd Stadium, 20:30), Al Khor vs Al Duhail (Al Ahli Stadium, 20:30) on Tuesday, Umm Salal vs Al Sailiya (Al Ahli Stadium, 18:15) and Al Arabi vs Al Kharaitiyat (Al Ahli Stadium, 20:30).

The Al Sadd vs Al Rayyan ‘Qatar Clasico’ will highlight the Week 21 action.

Al Gharafa had played their Week 21 match against Al Wakrah and lost by a 0-2 margin on 16th March.

The Al Gharafa vs Al Wakrah match was originally scheduled for 6th April along with other Week 21 games, but was rescheduled in view of Al Gharafa’s play-off with Uzbekistan’s FC AGMK in Doha on 7th April, 2021, for a berth in the 2021 AFC Champions League group stage.
