Al Sadd face Al Arabi in Week 17 of the 2020-21 season QNB Stars League. The kick-off is at 19:15 at the Al Sadd Stadium on Monday, 22nd February, 2021.
The game, dubbed the Qatar Derby, is a big fixture on Qatar’s domestic football calendar and is mainly noted for both teams’ ardent fan following and rich tradition.
Al Sadd, who beat Al Ahli 3-0 in Week 16, are now on 44 points, 13 more than second-placed side Al Duhail. The Wolves, coached by Spanish great Xavi Hernandez, have 14 victories to their credit, the most by any team, to their credit.
Al Sadd drew the other two games to remain as the only unbeaten side so far in this season’s league championship. They have a goal difference of +53 (63 goals for and 10 against).
Al Arabi, who beat Al Wakrah 1-0 in Week 16, are placed sixth with 23 points. The Dream Team, who will take the field in the absence of Coronavirus-infected coach Heimir Hallgrimsson, have recorded six victories, five draws and as many defeats, and have a goal difference of -2 (19 goals for and 21 against).
Meanwhile, Al Sadd had beaten Al Rayyan 1-0 in the 2021 Qatar Cup first semifinal on 18th February and will take on Al Duhail, who beat Al Gharafa 2-1, in the final on 26th February.
