<p>Qatar SC beat Al Kharaitiyat 3-1 in Week 13 of the 2020-21 season QNB Stars League at the Qatar SC Stadium on Thursday.</p><p>An own goal by Al Kharaitiyat’s Mohammed Salam (38th minute), a superb strike by Youcef Belaili (51st minute) and a neat effort by Hamed Ismail (63rd minute) sealed Qatar SC’s fighting 3-1 win.</p><p>Evans Mensah (88th minute) reduced the deficit for Al Kharaitiyat, who played under new coach Wesam Rizik for the first time this season.</p><p>Qatar SC now have 23 points, whereas Al Kharaitiyat stood on six points.</p><p>Al Kharaitiyat’s Mohammed Salam was quick off the blocks to head home a free-kick in the seventh minute, but the linesman was equally fast to give an off-side ruling. The referee got the confirmation from the VAR as his celebration was shortlived.</p><p>Two minutes later, Belaili charged into the Al Kharaitiyat box, but as he was about to take a shot from close range, he overbalanced and tripped under pressure from Oumar Sako, wasting an easy chance to score.</p><p>Qatar SC sustained a bit more pressure when Elmehdi Barrahma headed home off a free-kick, but VAR showed the move as off-side in the 17th minute.</p><p>In the 28th minute, Qatar SC captain Alejandro Jimena jumped high to get a header in, but his timing was a little off as the ball sailed above a host of players inside the Al Kharaitiyat box.</p><p>In the 38th minute, an own goal by Al Kharaitiyat lifted the spirits for Qatar SC. Youssef Farahat of Qatar SC charged down the right flank and slipped in a low cross towards the front of Al Kharaitiyat goalmouth. Abdulrahman Hussain tried to block the shot, but ended up deflecting the ball towards team-mate Mohammed Salam who tripped and fell. The ball hit Mohammed Salam and trickled into the net.</p><p>In a narrow miss for Al Kharaitiyat, Mohammed Nawaf curled in a spectacular shot in the 43rd minute from the edge of the box, but his shot went to the right of keeper Jassim Al Hail.</p><p>Six minutes into the second half, Qatar SC went 2-0 after Belaili – following a short tap from Bashar Bonyan – drilled a shot from inside the box to the top of the net.</p><p>Hamed Ismail added Qatar SC’s third goal when, after receiving a cross from Anthony Okpotu, hit the ball towards the goal but keeper Shehab Ellethy blocked the shot. Hamed was alert to tap the rebound into the net from close range.</p><p>Evans pulled one back for Al Kharaitiyat with a powerful shot from the edge of the box.</p>
