Al Wakrah coach Marquez Lopez spoke to the media ahead of their 2020-21 season QNB Stars League Week 19 match against Al Sadd.

“We have a big task ahead of us as we play against Al Sadd. We did not have enough time to prepare for this clash. The team needed to win against Al Sailiya in the last round and this was very important for the players and their mentality. Wins are always very important for the players’ confidence.

“I do not think Al Sadd will play against us in a relaxed manner after winning the league. I have many experiences of such matches. Champion sides never go to a match in a relaxed state of mind.

“We must fight and not show slackness. We must give everything we have in this great match,” said Marquez.

Al Wakrah goalkeeper Hassan Idris said, “Our match against Al Sadd will be difficult due to the strength of the opponents who won the league title a few days ago. My team will not waste points to get out of the difficult situation we are in. But to beat a team like Al Sadd, we need to make great efforts on the field. The level of Al Wakrah goalkeepers this season is more than wonderful and perhaps everyone is following the distinguished levels presented by Saoud Al Khater and Mohammed Saeed.”
