Al Ahli coach Nebojsa Jovovic spoke to the media ahead of their 2020-21 season QNB Stars League Week 19 match against Al Gharafa.

“This match is a big challenge for my team. All remaining matches in the competition are challenges for us and we must overcome them.

“I congratulate the Al Sadd team on winning the league title with four rounds remaining. They fully deserved it, having shown an excellent level and achieved impressive results. I wish them success in the AFC Champions League also.

“Eleven clubs are still competing hard. We will focus on achieving the best results in the remaining games and improve our position.

“Against Al Rayyan in the last round, we conceded two goals in the last minutes due to lack of focus as a result of great physical efforts made by our players throughout the game (Al Ahli had lost the game by a 1-3 margin). We actually deserved a point against Al Rayyan,” said Jovovic.

Al Ahli player Mohammed Diame said, “Al Gharafa are a strong and organised team. They had scored a great victory in their last match (against Al Khor). Facing them will not be easy. But we are working hard to provide a good performance against them.

“We are aware of the difficulty of this match and the other remaining matches. We have no choice but to win them if we are to finish in a good position.”
