QNB Stars League’s reigning champions Al Duhail and champions-to-be Al Sadd will face off in an electrifying 2021 Qatar Cup final on Friday, 26th February, 2021. The kick-off is at 16:45 at the Al Duhail Stadium.
More than the battle on the field, it will be a huge treat for the fans as the star-studded line-ups of Al Duhail and Al Sadd lock horns for one more time.
Al Duhail and Al Sadd qualified for the title clash by defeating Al Gharafa (2-1) and Al Rayyan (1-0) respectively in the one-off semifinals of the tournament, which features the top-four clubs in the league championship.
Accordingly, Al Duhail, Al Rayyan, Al Sadd and Al Gharafa, who finished in that order in the 2019-20 season QNB Stars League, competed in this year’s edition of the elite Qatar Cup.
Al Duhail and Al Sadd are easily the two best teams around and it is quite befitting that they made it to the final.
Al Sadd are leading the 2020-21 season QNB Stars League standings with 47 points, 13 points more than second-placed Al Duhail.
It may be recalled that Al Sadd had beaten Al Duhail in the final of 2020 Qatar Cup.
On to this season, Al Sadd beat Al Duhail in both legs of QNB Stars League by a 3-1 margin.
It will also be a battle for technical supremacy between Al Duhail coach Sabri Lamouchi and his Al Sadd counterpart Xavi Hernandez.
Lamouchi has at his disposal a large number of standout players, such as goalkeeper Salah Zakaria, Mohammed Musa, Ali Malallah, Ismail Mohammed, Karim Boudiaf, Sultan Al Breik, Assim Madibo, Michael Olunga, Almoez Ali, Eduardo Rodrigues ‘Dudu’, Paulo Edmilson Junior and Ali Karimi.
On the other hand, Xavi will mainly have the services of goalkeeper Meshaal Barsham, Tarek Salman and Nam Tae-Hee, Hassan Al Haydous, Baghdad Bounedjah, Rodrigo Tabata, Santi Cazorla, Salem Al Hajri, Ahmed Sohail, Musaab Khader, Pedro Miguel and Boualem Khoukhi.
Possibilities remain open for both teams and it has to be seen who will lift The Glorious Cup.
