In tonight’s late kick at the Grand Hamad Stadium Al Ahli faced off against Qatar Sports Club. With some of the most attacking players in the league, stretched defences and plenty of goals were inevitable.

The scoring started when just 4 minutes in, Mahir Yousef put the kings ahead.  And that’s how it stayed until the half hour mark when Meshal Abdulla replied with a goal of his own to level the match going into the break.

After the break, things really began to open up as the goals flew in at either end, the league’s current second top scorer Hamdi Harboui scoring his first goal of the game in the 54th minute.

Then just ten minutes later Harboui was at it again with his second and the Kings third of the night. The score was now 3-1 to QSC and the way back for Ahli was looking more and more bleak.

Then Qatar put the game beyond doubt when their box to box midfielder Young-Cheol Cho got on the score sheet late on (82’).

Many thought that the game was all but wrapped up, however Al Ahli had other ideas as they had a late surge in the dying minutes.

The Brigadiers made it 4-2 when Meshal Abdulla scored in the 86th minute, and then with the full 3 minutes of extra time already played, Alain Dioko also scored but at this point his team knew the whistle would blow at any moment.

It was a case of too little too late for the men in green despite their genuine attempt to make up for a slow start earlier in the match.

Al Ahli move down to 7th whilst QSC remain one place above them in the Qatar Stars League.
