QSL Cup Final Pre-Match Press Conference — Al Rayyan

Al Rayyan coach Michael Laudrup spoke to the media ahead of their QSL Cup final against Al Gharafa.

“Of course, we want to win this game. After all, it’s the final of an official cup competition. We won five of the six games we played in this tournament so far and we’re keen to win the last match as well.

“We had lost both our league matches to Al Gharafa last season. However, we could beat them in the first phase of QNB Stars League this time. We’ll go into this game with the same determination that we showed in all games in the QSL Cup.

“Matches against Al Gharafa are always close, so we’ll be wary of them. We aren’t making any special preparations for the final as there isn’t much time after the semifinal. Luckily, we won’t be missing any player due to national team duty this time,” said Laudrup.

The Dane downplayed the talks that most teams did not take the QSL Cup seriously and failed to field full-strength sides.

“I don’t think the teams took this tournament lightly. Only Al Duhail and Al Sadd couldn’t field their full squads because they had five or six players in the national team. Of course, some sides gave chances to reserve players and that’s normal. They’ve to get match experience. We don’t have a single player in the present Gulf Cup squad even though we would like to have some players in the Qatar squad,” he added.
