QNB Stars League — Week 15 Preview
The QNB Stars League’s Week 15 fixtures are Al Kharaitiyat vs Al Sailiya (Al Khor Stadium, 18:45) on Thursday, Al Ahli vs Al Duhail (Al Ahli Stadium, 16:35), Al Markhiya vs Al Rayyan (Al Arabi Stadium, 16:35) and Al Arabi vs Umm Salal (Al Arabi Stadium, 18:45) on Friday, Al Khor vs Al Gharafa (Al Khor Stadium, 16:35) and Qatar SC vs Al Sadd (Qatar SC Stadium, 18:45) on Saturday.
Qatar SC vs Al Sadd will be the highlight of matches.
Al Sadd, on a high after their big-margin victory over Al Gharafa, had started their preparations on Sunday under the supervision of Portuguese coach Jesualdo Ferreira. The Wolves stayed second with 34 points, two behind Al Duhail and as many more than third-placed side Al Rayyan.
Injured striker Baghdad Bounedjah has yet to recover from an injury he sustained during their 2-4 loss to Al Duhail in Week 9. And attacking midfielder Jugurtha Hamroun, who scored a brace in their last two matches, will sit out of the match due to suspension as he had picked up a fourth yellow card during their game against Al Gharafa.
Ahead of the match, Al Sadd players underwent a stipulated fitness test at Aspire, as part of efforts to continuously assess the physical condition of players throughout the season.
Qatar SC, ninth with 12 points, had drawn with Al Arabi last week and will be keen to collect maximum number of points at this stage.
The kings have a new-found confidence after Qatari coach Abdullah Mubarak took over from Gabriel Calderon.
Al Duhail, who played out a thrilling 3-3 draw with Al Rayyan in the last round, face Al Ahli challenge. The Red Knights should have it easy against The Brigadiers, who are seventh with 16 points.
Al Rayyan too should not face much of a problem against Al Markhiya, who stayed rooted to the bottom on eight points after their big defeat to Al Sailiya.
Sixth-placed Al Gharafa’s two-match winning run was halted by Al Sadd last week and The Cheetahs (17 points) will look to take their campaign back on track when they travel to Al Khor (14 points).
Al Kharaitiyat are in a precarious position (11th with nine points) as they run into fourth-placed Al Sailiya, who are on 23 points.
Tenth-placed Al Arabi (11 points) play host to Umm Salal, fifth with 20 points) in the other fixture.
